Pinch POt #1 - Elements and Principles
Pinch Pot Introduction
I am creating a pinch pot, a technique used to create small hand-made pots. We are focusing on texture, elements and principles in this project.
Sketches and Artist Research
This artist that I found, named Maria Martinez created these pinch pots. I love the color and the writing on the side of them. I think Martinez is an expert pot pincher and I used her inspiration to create my sketches.

Reflection Questions
1. How did brainstorming affect the final result of your project? What were the benefits of brainstorming ideas before beginning your project? How could you improve your brainstorming techniques?
I think that by brainstorming I was able to get out some thoughts which was helpful because those were part of my final project.
2. What was the most difficult part of creating your pinch pot? Either your Element and Principles pinch pot or your organic pinch pot.
I think that for my elements and principles pinch pot I found it difficult to come up with designs and patterns to use
for my pinch pot.
3. What are you most proud of? What do you think you could have done better?
I am very proud of the unique shapes that I came up with for both of my pinch pots.
4. What techniques did you learn/use while creating your pinch pot?
I used the fingers and thumb technique to create a pot.
5. How did your surrounding work environment affect your final product? Did you talk to others around you to get suggestions? Did you get ideas from working with other students? If not, how would this be helpful in creating a future piece?
I think that talking to my peers was helpful because I was able to get multiple opinions on my project. I did not get any ideas from my peers, I got all of my ideas from past projects and pictures that I've seen. I suppose that seeing my peers pots could trigger ideas for my own in the future.
6. Did you spend time outside of class looking at other artists work (i.e. museums, on the street, Instagram, Facebook, etc.)? If so, which artists did you look at? If not, how could you incorporate this into your daily lifestyle while you're in Ceramics?
Yes I spent time for both pinch pots researching pottery artists.
